How to Find Your Computer Name in Windows 10 or Windows 11

Sometimes our support team will ask for your computer name to help identify your machine on the network or when setting up remote support. You can find it in just a few quick steps.

Method 1: Use Windows Settings

Works on both Windows 10 and Windows 11.

1. Open the Start Menu

Click the Start button (Windows logo) on your taskbar.

2. Type and Click “About Your PC”

Start typing: about your PC
Then click on the result labeled “About your PC” or “System”.

3. Find Your Device Name

In the window that opens, scroll to the Device specifications section.
Look for “Device name” — that’s your computer name.

Example: DESKTOP-5JG42RQ or JohnsLaptop

Method 2: Use the Run Command

If you're more comfortable with keyboard shortcuts:

1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog

2. Type cmd and press Enter to open the Command Prompt
